Everything you need to know about RepSavvy

Getting Started

  • RepSavvy is a collaborative initiative designed to protect the business community from dishonest or difficult clients. Similar to how credit bureaus support lenders and OpenRoom assists landlords, RepSavvy harnesses the power of shared community insights to safeguard contractors. Unfortunately, the law often favours consumers, making debt recovery challenging, time-consuming, and financially impractical. That’s why it’s far more effective to avoid bad customers upfront than to chase payment later. RepSavvy makes this possible by providing access to verified reviews, payment history, community forums, and instant alerts—allowing you to vet potential clients during intake and review them upon project completion.

  • RepSavvy is designed for business operators across all industries—from contractors (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing) to consultants, accountants, dentists, restaurants, salons, fitness studios, cleaning services, auto repair shops, and more. Any licensed business can join, whether you're an owner, operator, manager, or authorized employee.

  • Making informed decisions about customers protects your business from problematic engagements. 1) Consider, one fraudulent customer can erase the profits of 5+ good customers. That's weeks or months of work impacted by a single bad engagement. 2) Laws also heavily favour customers over businesses. You bear the burden of proof. Court proceedings are lengthy, complex, and costly—and winning doesn't guarantee payment. 3) Dealing with problematic customers drains mental energy and distracts from growing your business. Time spent on disputes is time not spent serving good customers or improving operations. A little research helps you avoid these scenarios.

Customer Research & Alerts

  • Enter at least 3 pieces of customer information (first name, last name, email, phone, or address) to search our database. This multi-point verification protects privacy and prevents data mining while ensuring you get accurate intelligence from verified businesses.

  • You can view customer contact information, verified reviews from other businesses (both public and anonymous), payment history ratings, communication quality scores, overall professionalism ratings, and related community forum discussions. All information comes from verified business experiences.

  • When a business reports problematic customer activity, all businesses within that service area receive immediate notifications. This helps you stay informed and make better decisions before engaging with new customers.

  • Yes, unused monthly search credits carry over into your next billing cycle: i.e you get what you pay for!

  • There are two key reasons behind this decision: 1) Value Requires Resources Anything worthwhile takes real resources to build and maintain. Membership fees help cover essential operational costs such as labour (developers, moderators, administration, etc.) and overhead (server maintenance, office expenses, and more). These contributions allow RepSavvy to remain independent, impartial, and continuously improving—all thanks to the support of its members. You’re business professionals—you understand the value of that investment! 2) Private Club, Not Public Forum The membership fee also serves an important legal and structural purpose. It establishes RepSavvy as a private network rather than a public forum—a critical distinction in the legal world. RepSavvy is built by business folk, for business folk, and while we take steps to verify every new member, few tools confirm legitimacy better than a corporate credit card bearing your business name.

  • Making informed decisions before engaging with customers protects your business. One problematic customer can require 5+ successful customers to break even (based on typical profit margins). If your average profit is $1,000, avoiding one bad engagement saves $5,000+ in lost revenue—plus legal costs, time, and stress.
